8 Last Minute Changes That Could Save WWE Clash Of Champions 2017
7. Get Rid Of The Lumberjacks
Lumberjack matches are almost always terrible. The bouts are horribly predictable, although that is something that can be levelled at WWE in general. Here’s a wild prediction for the bout - the lumberjacks will start fighting on the outside, a huge brawl will ensue, and Charlotte will do a moonsault off the turnbuckle onto the coincidentally placed crowd. Everyone will clap, and the world will continue to turn.
If WWE was going to go ahead with yet another match between Charlotte Flair and Natalya, there are plenty of more interesting routes it could take. How about a ladder match? A two-out-of-three-falls encounter? No holds barred? Both women are experienced enough to make any stipulation work, so why not go ahead and test them?
The lumberjack stipulation is lazy booking personified. Much of the good work done by WWE with the women’s division in 2016 has flittered away in 2017 - the ladies of SmackDown are ending on a particularly weak note.
