Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton last did battle in the main event of SummerSlam 2016, and boy was it a memorable match. Not for good reasons of course, as The Beast Incarnate opened up The Viper on his way to a shocking win via referee stoppage. The match had been built up as a dream match for the ages. To say it didn’t deliver is a humongous understatement.

The strangest thing about it all was that Orton barely seemed bothered after the fact. The Viper brought up the match on the next episode of SmackDown, promising that the two would cross paths again. Before Orton got any further into the threat he was interrupted by Bray Wyatt, and the rest was history. Terrible history. Randy Orton hasn’t exactly made a career out of being one to forgive and forget, and it is unlikely that the events of SummerSlam 2016 have been completely consigned to the past.

Orton has said that he wasn’t happy how that main event match ended - is the summer of 2018 the time to put that right?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
