8 Reasons Bret Hart Deserved To Be Screwed At Survivor Series 1997

"Bret screwed Bret"

"The Montreal Screwjob" is one of the most infamous and heavily debated topics in the history of professional wrestling. The ripple-effects can be felt throughout the entire business to this day. Basically, Bret Hart had been approached by Eric Bischoff of WCW to jump ship from WWE in 1996 for a substantial amount of money. Bret also had an offer to stay with the WWE for 20 years, but for far less money than WCW had offered him. Bret had a tough decision to make. He ultimately decided to stay loyal to WWE and take the 20 year offer. Shortly thereafter, Bret was asked to turn heel and a completely new direction for his character took place. He was a good guy in Canada, but a bad guy in the United States. It was extremely successful for Bret and rejuvenated his career. However, things weren't so good on Vince McMahon's side. Vince wanted out of the aforementioned 20 year contract and helped broker a deal so Bret can get his contract offer from WCW back. The biggest issue in this was that Bret was the WWE Champion and WWE had to get the belt off of Bret, which led to "The Montreal Scewjob." That's making a really long story short. Here are 8 Reasons Bret Hart Deserved to be Screwed at Survivor Series 1997.
