8 Reasons Why MMA Fans Shouldn't Make Fun Of Wrestling

Whether it's a Squared Circle or an Octagon, can't we all just get along?

Hardcore MMA fans do not like professional wrestling. Whether it's because of wrestling's storylines, gimmicks, or the fact that they perceive wrestling as "fake", they just don't appreciate or respect the wrestling industry. Take a scroll through your average UFC news site or MMA discussion forum in which pro wrestling is mentioned, and see for yourself. This was never more evident than when UFC announced the signing of CM Punk, and the more outspoken members of the MMA community greeted the news with everything from sarcasm and mockery to absolute contempt and hostility. And it's not just the fans, the resentment often comes from within the UFC itself. Analyst and Commentator for the UFC, Joe Rogan, threw gasoline on the fire during Episode 545 of his "Joe Rogan Experience" when he stated that: €œWresting is some weird, f***ing thing that strange guys do. They sit in front of the TV and pretend they don€™t know it€™s fake. I€™d watch lions killing gazelles on television because that€™s real. I need real. I can€™t get entertained by fake. When you watch Game of Thrones and you watch a guy get his head cut off, you know what it looks like? It looks like a guy actually getting his head cut off. It looks real. When I watch wrestling, and I see a guy get hit and go, €˜UGH!€™ and turn to the crowd, I know that€™s bullsh*t. It€™s offensive to me.€ And despite having a mutually respectful relationship with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, as well as friendships with several wrestling stars, even UFC President Dana White didn't hide his contempt for wrestling when a Twitter follower ribbed White about the price of UFC PPV's:

So, why the hate? And is such resentment and hostility from the MMA community even warranted? No it's not. And here's 8 reasons why...
