8 Times Wrestlers Went Above And Beyond To Make Someone Look Good

These wrestlers are so selfless that they'd turn down a self-high-five.

In the best-case scenarios, both wrestlers in a match will come out looking like a bigger deal once the bell rings. Sometimes it happens by accident, and other times, it happens by design. Even in defeat, a wrestler can elevate themself.

But other times, the match is constructed or conceived specifically to get one of the two competitors over at the expense of the other grappler in the ring. That's fine; the squash match is a time-honored tradition in pro wrestling, a way to showcase an up-and-coming star without damaging other name-brand talents.

It can be to a wrestler's benefit to be good at making others look good. A technician like Mr. Perfect or Bret Hart can make practically any opponent look great, and everyone has heard about Ric Flair having a good match with the proverbial broomstick.

Unfortunately, the pendulum can swing too far in the other direction, to the detriment of some careers. Some wrestlers are so great at making other guys look good that they never move past that. They become the gatekeepers, the enhancement guys who propel others up the ladder of success.

And sometimes, a wrestler can truly go above and beyond the call of duty to make someone else look a million bucks.

8. The Singh Brothers

As Jinder Mahal's lackeys, the Singhs job is supposed to be helping their boss remain champion, either by interfering on his behalf or serving as obstacles for the challenger to overcome. It's a classic goon position, filled admirably in the past by the likes of Pat Patterson and Gerry Brisco for Vince or Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins for Edge during the La Familia days.

But in reality, as lackeys the Singhs worked overtime making Randy Orton look like a vicious killer. They took RKOs from the top rope, were thrown into the air and dumped on their heads, and even took the Shane McMahon Hell in a Cell fall from the top of the Punjabi Prison.

Even in defeat, Orton looked strong, thanks to those two selfless goons being tossed around like ragdolls.
