8 Ups & 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 5)

Downs...

7. This Is Getting Sad

Kurt Angle
WWE.com

Your writer doesn't need to see Kurt Angle wrestle again.

This is entirely subjective and isn't a call for the man to retire by any means, but watching a 49-year-old battered, beaten, and broken 'Olympic Hero' dragging his dilapidated body through these matches is sad. He isn't as much a shadow of his former self as he is a ghost. The busted neck, knees, and lord knows what else give the impression of a guy barely capable of holding himself upright, and while Kurt's probably having fun out there, it isn't fun to watch.

Drew McIntyre did a sterling job running Angle through last night's main event. Still, the Olympian's deficiencies were there for all to see, as he laboured his way through even the most rudimental of strikes. His tamest grappling exchanges were fine, but the rest? Tough viewing.

If you're into this Kurt Angle nostalgia run, that's cool. The man's a legend, he still gets good pops, and there's a novelty to seeing him wrestle current era stars. This author just doesn't want to see him become a self-parody, which he will if we get more bouts like this.
