This might be a personal failing, but it’s hard to give strong marks against NXT for their TakeOver events. Maybe it’s the knowledge that this is technically a developmental promotion, so not all the wrestlers are as polished as they are supposed to be.

Or maybe NXT really is that good at putting out a consistently good product that is genuinely entertaining and high-quality. Even when the match quality tails off a little from previous special events, NXT still puts on a really good show each time, and Takeover: Brooklyn II was no exception.

Saturday’s show featured six matches and had fans along for the ride for all six of them, singing entrance themes, chanting for their favorite stars and cheering along at many points. We saw a new champ crowned, and we quite possibly saw the last hurrah for a former champ before they move on to bigger and (hopefully) better things. We saw incredible entrances that stole the show at various times. And we saw some excellent old-school tag team wrestling to get the blood pumping.

TakeOver might get a bit of a pass on things at times, but overall, it consistently is strong up and down the card, leaving fans to wonder why WWE can’t put out a PPV like this on a regular basis.

But for now, what was glorious and what got choked out? Let’s get to it…
