Welcome to another edition of Christmas week Raw, when WWE presents a product that is difficult to judge.

Typically during this time of year, WWE seems to throttle back on its main storylines, somehow grinding them down into a holding pattern of sorts. The result is an episode of Raw that doesn’t have huge developments, but also isn’t offensive. Knowing that, it ends up getting graded on a curve here, because it’s unfair to be overly critical when the show clearly is running in a lower gear.

This week’s (taped edition) Raw gave us a United States Championship match that was a first-time ever meeting between Rey Mysterio and Seth Rollins. One guess on whether that ended conclusively. It also gave us a six-man tag match that sounded bigger on paper but came off as just another match.

We also got a series of squashes and other anomalous matches that you just wouldn’t see in the same week on Raw. Altogether, it made for an episode that was pretty easy to watch, save for a couple dull points.

And we already know what to look forward to (or cringe about in advance) next week with a wedding between Lana and Bobby Lashley. Oh joy.

With that said, let’s get to it…

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
