When WWE lays things out logically and in advance, giving fans a reason to tune in and a reason to get invested in matches, the result often is good/entertaining, even if fans might not necessarily agree with the result.

Case in point, Monday Night Raw gave fans their second Women’s Championship main event match in as many months, with Sasha Banks and Charlotte tearing down the house with a hard-hitting falls count anywhere bout that had fans rumbling throughout, especially when the fight spilled over into the crowd for the finale.

We also saw Seth Rollins extract his revenge on Chris Jericho for his constant interference, New Day continue their march toward a decades-old record that looked unbeatable a few months ago, a husband standing up for his wife, two hometown wrestlers falling short, Sami Zayn standing up to Mick Foley, and WWE’s Odd Couple deciding that maybe they aren’t so bad off together after all.

Raw certainly has had its share of ups and downs in 2016, but when the writers get out of their own way and let the matches and performers tell the stories instead of contrived situations and forced dialogue, it can be pretty good.

So what was flying high and what fell flat Monday night? Let’s get to it…

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
