This may not have been a sanctioned match, but it took place inside the ring and was ultimately more entertaining than the actual match that preceded it, so it would be silly to exclude this one on a technicality.

Prior to this moment on an episode of Superstars of Wrestling, Jake Roberts was working toward an epic heel turn. A fan favorite for years, Roberts began attacking all of the top babyfaces in increasingly vicious ways, starting with The Ultimate Warrior.

Although the segment with Warrior - which found Roberts betraying his former ally by locking him in a room filled with snakes - was pretty sadistic, it was also pre-shot and heavily edited until it was painfully obvious that Warrior was in no actual physical danger.

Flash forward to Superstars of Wrestling, and this is all being done in front of a live audience. Even in those circumstances, Savage agreed to let Jake The Snake's very real King Cobra bite him to make everything authentic.

Unfortunately, snakes don't know how to maintain kayfabe, and after a few "scripted" seconds of the cobra latching onto Savage's arm, Roberts was unable to get the thing to release its clutch.

After a full, painful 30 seconds of Savage legitimately writhing in pain with blood trickling down his arm, the snake finally released its tenacious grip.

Suddenly, Jake The Snake's transformation into a full-blown psychopath was complete.
