8 WWE Commentators Vince McMahon Soured On

7. Joey Styles

Regardless of what you think about his commentary skills, you have to commend Joey Styles' ability to call complete shows by himself during his time in ECW, serving as both the play-by-play guy and the color commentator.

WWE, on the other hand, must not have thought too highly of his skills; it wasn't until ECW One Night Stand 2005 that he was finally brought in by the company. Needless to say, he added a ton to that event from behind the booth, and was hired as a full-time commentator for Raw soon after. It was reported that he had signed a five year deal to call the action on Raw, so WWE must have had faith he would be a suitable long-term replacement for Jim Ross.

However, he did not call most of the Raw matches at WrestleMania 22, and ultimately he was moved from the Raw announce team to the ECW announce team by mid-2006. The move made sense at the time, given his ties to the extreme brand, but it was apparent he was not long for the job.

In April 2008, Styles was removed from WWE TV all together and replaced by Mike Adamle (remember that name), instead working with WWE.com.

So much for being the future voice of Raw, huh?
