9 Reasons WWE Fan Sentiment Is Shifting For Roman Reigns

What's causing the fans to join The Roman Empire?

The past week has seen a shift in the sentiment directed toward Roman Reigns from the fans. Going into the main event of TLC, Reigns was still on the outside looking at the fan support both he and WWE so desperately wanted him to receive. Throughout the match he and his opponent, WWE World Champion Sheamus were met with general apathy, both from being burnt out after an entire card of gimmick matches and their disinterest in both characters. When the end of the match rolled around and Roman unleashed his pent up fury on Triple H with an aggression we haven't seen from him since his Shield days, the atmosphere in the arena had clearly changed and the people were all the way on board. The following night on Raw, he was facing a crowd that called for his head on a pike in January when he won the Royal Rumble, and many expected more of the same. After all, Philadelphia is a notorious "smart" wrestling city and surely they would reject Reigns the same as they did at the beginning of the year. Not even close. Instead Roman was hailed as a hero and cheered passionately in his segments with Stephanie and Vince McMahon. By the time the end of the night rolled around the crowd was on the edge of their seat, popping at every near fall. When Reigns superman punched and speared every heel in the arena en route winning the title the fans rose in anticipation and once he finally had his hand raised the place came unglued. So what happened to change things for Roman Reigns? Let's examine that now.
