9 Reasons WWE WrestleMania 34 Will Exceed WrestleMania 33

Cause for optimism.

With the Royal Rumble in the bag, we're now only two main roster WWE Network events away from WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans.

And while anything can happen between now and 8 April (anything, that is, except Vince McMahon going cold on Brock Lesnar versus Roman Reigns) most fans, thanks to online dirt-sheets, can take an educated guess at how the card for the Show of Shows is going to shape up.

As ever, not all of it makes for pleasant reading, but the early signs are that this year's showpiece will easily surpass the one we were made to endure last year, where the best match of the night featured a 47-year-old on-screen authority figure.

Mostly, this is because of the (presumed) presence of AJ Styles versus Shinsuke Nakamura, a dream match capable of elevating just about any wrestling event to the status of contender for show of the year.

But, between returning legends and the involvement of a certain UFC mega-star, there are one or two other things to look forward to as well - many of which were sorely missed from WrestleMania 33.

9. A Good Main Event

Most of the despair around WWE's (presumed) decision to put Roman Reigns in the ring with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34 stems from fears that the feud's outcome - particularly with the latter's proclivity for long sabbaticals - will be dull and predictable.

What isn't in doubt, however, is that these two are capable of putting on a great match. Even the most ardent critics of Roman have to concede that he is one of the company's best performers between the ropes, while The Beast Incarnate almost always delivers if conditions are right.

Even at only 60 or 70%, this one will surely better the disappointing effort between The Big Dog and Undertaker at WrestleMania 33, a headline match which at times felt comically one-sided, even though it featured a man who had only lost once in the event's entire history.

Boos after the final bell (which are probably inevitable, regardless of what WWE does between now and 8 April) may spoil Roman's coronation, but the 20 minutes we get before that ought to be the best 'Mania main event for at least three years.
