9 Talking Points From Vince McMahon's WWE Conference Call

Vince tells us how WWE business is doing.

The WWE second quarter business results are out, painting a mixed picture of WWE's successes and failures. On the whole, things were pretty positive. Overall results showed $150.2 million in revenue and $5.1 million in profits. That's resulted in the stock jumping from a close of 16.48 yesterday, to past 20.00 in the hours after the results were announced. As always, Vince McMahon chaired a conference call after the results were published, with Chief Financial Officer George Barrios also doing a lot of the talking. As is usual with this call, it was a lot of talking their performance up and spinning things to suit their angle. The big questions are still all around the WWE Network, with the company obsessively trying to make it a success. While still way off the four million subscriber figure that some investors are dreaming of, things are definitely looking steadier.

9. WWE Network Subscribers

There are 1,156,000 WWE Network subscribers. That's down from the 1,327,000 in the last quarter, but that was to be expected because there's been no WrestleMania level show. The number is pretty much what had been predicted, and WWE emphasised the fact that this time last year the subscriber level was around 700,000 people. They've pushed a lot more new content hard in this quarter, so it is no surprise to see more people using the service. They envision 1.2 million subscribers at the end of the next quarter.
