9 Things Nobody Wants To Admit About CM Punk's UFC Debut

7. He's Putting His Health On The Line

Two injury setbacks - one of which was a leftover, nagging injury from his pro wrestling days - simply underline what a danger MMA is going to be to CM Punk. Punk is not an athletic freak of nature like Brock Lesnar or Bobby Lashley, guys who proved relatively durable in their MMA careers (and only Lashley has had any sort of longevity so far, as he is now in his eighth year as a mixed martial artist, as Lesnar was felled by diverticulitis). More than likely, he's not a guy who is going to take a beating Big Country style and keep walking forward and throwing punches. In fact, CM Punk is going to be lucky if his MMA career isn't over before it even gets off the ground due to injury, and it's a serious concern. See, it's not that he can't take a punch, it's the years of wear and tear his body has already taken: abuse that is probably worse, given the frequency it was endured, than what most pro fighters go through.
