Per this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jon Moxley is dealing with an injury.

Writes editor Dave Meltzer:

"Jon Moxley has some kind of an elbow injury. It may be an infection that he got in Japan. He worked shows this weekend for Northeast Wrestling and with the exception of the 8/16 show in Poughkeepsie, his singles bouts were made tags. He pretty much insisted on doing his singles match with Pentagon Jr., and was very careful not to bump on the elbow."

What follows is speculation.

This is potentially worrisome news ahead of his major, much-anticipated match against Kenny Omega at AEW All Out on Saturday, August 31. Meltzer does not elaborate on the severity of the injury, but one must imagine that Moxley's willingness to work through it - albeit carefully - indicates that this shouldn't put the (more high-profile) match in jeopardy. Moreover, the weekly AEW schedule, which prohibits Moxley from taking further independent dates from October, should allow for an easier recuperation period, if indeed it is that serious.

Meltzer didn't even intimate that his status for Chicago is up in the air, and so hopefully this is more an inconvenience than anything that requires a significant layoff.
