With his current All Elite Wrestling contract set to expire in 2024, MJF has claimed he is keeping his options open as far as his future goes.

The brashest of AEW's young Pillars said as much during an appearance on Rasslin' with Brandon F. Walker. Putting himself over as one of the best in the business, the Pinnacle leader claimed that AEW president Tony Khan knows his worth to the promotion (Fightful):-

"Eventually, these guys who are great are gonna have to retire. You're not gonna be happy when they do. But I'm gonna be here for a long time. So Tony Khan understands where his bread is buttered. Tony Khan understands he has the best promo, or interviewee, or guy on the stick, however you want to say it in all professional wrestling. I'm also one of the best in-ring wrestlers in the world today, which I'd love to get into that too later."

MJF then went into his future, saying that he'd consider going to "the other place" if Khan doesn't make him an agreeable offer when it's time to enter negotiations:-

"My issue and the reason why I don't get into ratings talk and I'll let everybody else do it is someday, if Tony Khan; again, a good friend of mine, doesn't fork up the right amount of money when my contract goes up, in the beginning of 2024, I might go to the other place. I might go over there, I might go to IMPACT, I might go to Ring of Honor. I can go wherever I want because I'm the hottest commodity in professional wrestling."

Wrestlers are always working, and MJF is one of the closest guardians of kayfabe left in the sport today. This should be acknowledged before taking the above text at face value here, particularly as MJF is likely to be one of AEW's most prominently pushed wrestlers over the next few years, though it's natural for any smart professional to at least consider keeping their options open.

MJF is currently feuding with Darby Allin on AEW television, though the promotion is yet to confirm a date for their first singles match under the All Elite banner. Both wrestlers were earmarked as future megastars upon AEW's formation in 2019.
