AJ Lee Set To Return To WWE Raw Tonight

It's another expected return during WWE's WrestleMania season.

AJ Lee is set to make her WWE television return to Raw tonight in Newark, New Jersey. The Jersey native is backstage at the show according to PWinsider and is set to return this evening. The expectation is that Lee will return as a babyface to go against the Bella Twins. It will likely be one of those situations where the Bellas are doing some 2-on-1 attack against their main rival Paige, which would lead to Lee running out for the save. That will probably lead to some match at WrestleMania with the Bella Twins taking on AJ & Paige although if they did that then Nikki's Divas Title wouldn't be on the line unless they do a "winner gets the title" kind of tag match. Another option is Nikki Bella defending the Divas Title in a 4-way match. Lee has been off television since the TLC PPV on December 14, 2014 when she lost a Divas Title re-match to Nikki so she's had nearly three months to rest up from a neck injury that was causing her pain. It's no surprise that she's back on TV four weeks before WrestleMania. It's the season of returns after all. Another possibility for Lee's return could be some sort of involvement with Stephanie McMahon. She tweeted her last week about women's rights and women's pay in WWE. The original reports were that it wasn't part of a storyline, but we don't know for sure. This is also the first Raw following last week's #GiveDivasAChance movement on social media when fans were outraged over the fact that last week's divas match on Raw lasted about 30 seconds. Will the divas be given more of a chance this week? That's no sure thing, but hopefully over the coming weeks and months it happens. Hopefully they can do something creative with this storyline. It seems like WWE always does the same thing with diva storylines whether it was Michelle McCool & Layla working together to dominate the scene, Beth Phoenix with Natalya or AJ Lee with Tamina. Now it's the Bella Twins in that heel role. Come on WWE Creative team... try being creative.
