Does AJ Lee's WWE Return Mean CM Punk Will Be Back?

CM Punk's wife is back. What about him?

WWE.comWWE.comNow that WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee is back on WWE TV after a three month break that saw her marry CM Punk, the question that a lot of fans are asking is if this means Punk will be back in WWE soon. According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider and the sources he spoke to, the answer is "no" regarding the WWE return of CM Punk. There was a WrestleMania Rewind special on WWE Network this week that focused on Punk's two Money in the Bank match wins at WrestleManias 24 and 25. He was also a part of the first Monday Night War episode that aired on WWE Network last night. Does it mean anything? No. The WrestleMania Rewind show can feature anybody that works for WWE currently or the past while the comments on the Monday Night War show were filmed in the last two years. According to the report, CM Punk's existing contract with WWE is going to expire on July 17. That's exactly three years after he signed a three year contract extension at Money in the Bank in Chicago in 2011. Johnson claims that when he asked sources about it they had no news regarding a return for Punk. The feeling is that just because AJ Lee is the Divas Champion and back on the road in WWE that nothing has changed with Punk's status. Apparently he hasn't had much contact with WWE since February. We don't know what AJ Lee's contract status is with WWE. Maybe if her deal is up in a year or two she won't want to renew because she might want to start a family with Punk. Then again, maybe he'll hate that his wife is on the road and will want to go back on the road with her. It's all a mystery at this point. Punk has maintained a low public profile since leaving WWE in January. He has used the word "retired" when talking about his status. During a February conference call, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon simply said that Punk was on hiatus. There have been no updates on WWE's end since then. Even though he hasn't been seen too much, Punk has been using Twitter a bit more often of late. Sometimes he tweets funny stuff and other times he tweets about sports. At other times he even insults people like he did on Monday when he referred to a guy as a "c**t" when that guy was apparently bothering him. At least he's an honest guy. Whether Punk does or doesn't return to WWE anytime soon the fact remains that he's still a big name in the wrestling business. Fans are always going to be drawn to him because he's a special talent that many of us enjoyed to watch perform in the wrestling ring.
