AJ Styles Vs Chris Jericho Announced For WWE SmackDown

Jericho and Styles to face off once again on the USA Network.

The first singles match AJ Styles had upon entering WWE was against Chris Jericho the night after the Royal Rumble. The two will have a much anticipated rematch this week on WWE SmackDown, as was announced Monday night during RAW. The announcement came during a MizTV segment featuring The Miz and Chris Jericho. The Miz started off the segment reflecting on his match with Styles last Thursday night; a bout that resulted in Miz getting two teeth knocked out and having to undergo dental surgery. Part way through the segment on RAW, Chris Jericho made his way down to the ring. He talked about how the fans would rather see the Highlight Reel than MizTV, and the segment (and set) were transitioned into the Highlight Reel. Jericho teased Miz about his match with Styles last week, which resulted in Miz bringing up the fact that Jericho also lost to Styles when they faced off. Jericho then announced that he would be taking on Styles this Thursday in a rematch. Eventually, AJ himself came down to the ring. When things broke down, Styles and Jericho teamed up to rid the ring of Miz. Following that, AJ and Jericho had a tense face-off and exchange of punches to build toward their match on SmackDown. https://twitter.com/WWE/status/696879276121919488 With AJ Styles having not lost yet on television since coming to WWE, this Thursday's bout will be an interesting watch. Will WWE continued to build Styles up with another victory over Jericho, or will they feel the need to give Jericho a win back as is their typical 50/50 booking strategy of late? We've heard that a Styles/Jericho match at Fastlane is in the cards, and if that's going to be the case, we might be in store for a false finish or Jericho victory on Thursday to set up the rubber match at Fastlane.
