Alistair Overeem Wants To Face Brock Lesnar In WWE?

UFC Heavyweight contender can't seem to stop talking about The Beast Incarnate.

When Alistair Overeem made his UFC debut in 2011, he did it against the biggest opponent possible: former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. It was supposed to be a title eliminator, and Overeem won after a vicious blast to Lesnar's midsection. Lesnar crumpled, not far removed from surgery for diverticulitis. Overeem was on a huge high - briefly, before failing a drug test weeks removed from the fight. Though still within the window allotted time for testing as part of Overeem's conditional license for the fight, the win for Overeem was not changed to a No Contest, though it could have been, and Lesnar did not contest the decision. Since then, however, MMA fans have derided Overeem, most notably when he suffered crushing losses to Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva, Travis Browne, and Ben Rothwell. And Lesnar never seemed to leave his mind, despite Overeem's win over the WWE star. Last year, Overeem went so far as to call out Lesnar in the UFC octagon, despite the former heavyweight champion being retired. Now, despite Lesnar having officially announced that he would not return to fighting, and re-signing with the WWE, it seems Overeem cannot stop talking about the former Next Big Thing. At a UFC fan Q&A in London leading into Saturday's UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Silva event, Overeem was asked about a potential rematch. His answer?

Maybe one day in WWE -- when I retire from real fighting.
It's an obvious dig at the WWE star, and one of the biggest draws in UFC history. That said, the Lesnar fight, controversial though it was due to Overeem's drug test failure, remains the pinnacle of the Dutch fighter's UFC career, which, thanks to the drug test failure, has yet to take him to a title shot in the promotion. In fact, it's telling that both fans and the fighter himself seem more interested in Brock Lesnar than they do in any other match-up for the veteran fighter, even after Overeem knocked out Junior Dos Santos late last year. So, would Overeem ever really consider a wrestling venture? Not likely, even though he has the size, look, and athleticism to succeed. Overeem has been an MMA fighter and kickboxer for a long time, and come retirement, it's unlikely he makes the move to pro wrestling - nor would the WWE likely be interested.
