Analyzing Each Potential WWE Money In The Bank 2017 Winner

Only one man can win Money in the Bank, but all six possibilities have their benefits and drawbacks.

Money in the Bank comes this Sunday, and while the rest of the card looks fairly underwhelming, the MiTB ladder match itself has quite the lineup. From great workers like Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler to rising stars like Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura, the ladder match is a safe pick to steal the show.

However, only one of these men can win the Money in the Bank Briefcase, so naturally, we're all inclined to ask: which one? Who of these six is most likely to win the match and become Mr. Money in the Bank?

More importantly, whoever wins, what are the benefits and drawbacks that come with their victory?

Will they make a good WWE Champion?

5. Kevin Owens And AJ Styles

I've opted to put these two together, as they’re remarkably similar. AJ Styles and Kevin Owens are both fantastic workers who in 2016, after years of busting their butts and wowing audiences, won world titles on the main roster.

The benefit to either of these two winning the briefcase is that fans immediately buy into them as world champions. After all, not only were they both champs last year, but they’re two of the most consistently over people on the roster. Both are extremely charismatic in-ring and on the mic, and both exude credibility, even after a loss.

The point being: with AJ Styles or Kevin Owens, you have the benefit of an established star whom everyone already buys holding the briefcase... but that’s also a drawback.

Simply put: neither AJ nor Kevin needs that briefcase. The idea of Money in the Bank is to either resurrect a languishing career, or give a burgeoning star a spot in the main event. These two are in neither situation. Randy Orton and Jinder Mahal be damned, AJ and Kevin are SmackDown’s top face and heel respectively. KO is sitting pretty as the US Champ with his “Face of America” gimmick, and AJ’s primed for another main event run any day now.

Granted, in Kevin’s case, having a midcard title doesn’t preclude someone from winning the briefcase, as is evidence with Miz back in 2010. However, the point is: Kevin doesn’t need the extra prop, as he’s already doing great work with the US title. Obviously, both KO and AJ deserve to have world championship runs again, but having either of them win Money in the Bank would be a waste of a briefcase. And given they’re in a feud for the US title that’s currently on standby, I wouldn’t bet on either scenario happening.
