WWE United States Champion Apollo Crews has explained that his recent resurgence is all thanks to Raw Executive Producer Paul Heyman.

In an interview with TalkSport, Crews explained that the ECW figurehead has been instrumental in him finally finding his feet on the main roster, particularly on the mic:

"Paul Heyman is fantastic to work for. He’s been very hands-on with me and he’s helped me a lot, especially a lot in areas like my promos. And that’s one thing I feel like I can always improve on."

Though it appears Crews is beginning to realise his massive potential as a performer, he also noted that he believes that his earlier struggles to get over with the fans was due to the fact that he hadn't had the opportunity to show what he is capable of:

I was given opportunities, but I don’t feel like I was ever given anything I could, or even the fans could latch onto. There’s no reason for them to really like me.

Crews had long languished in the lower mid-card after his move to the main roster in 2016, most notably appearing as a member of Titus Worldwide alongside Titus O'Neil and Dana Brooke, but finding himself largely directionless after the group disbanded last year.

Though he didn't initially see success as a singles star, Crews has enjoyed significantly more in-ring success since being traded to Raw in April, defeating Andrade for the United States Championship earlier this month to mark his first title victory in WWE.
