Backstage News On When Randy Orton's WWE Contract Expires

Could 'The Viper' be set to depart WWE in the near future?

Randy Orton's current WWE contract expires in the summer of 2020.

This is according to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, who writes that a number of WWE employees confirmed the date with him not long after his previous writeup on 'The Viper' trolling All Elite Wrestling over the weekend. Sapp notes that Orton was reported to have signed a 10-year deal back in 2010 and adds that "a number of variables" may have changed its length.

So, could this lead to the 13-time World Champion actually leaving WWE? It's really, really hard to see this happening, given his status as a company golden boy, one of Vince McMahon's favourites, and a guy whose attributes perfectly suit his current platform, though nothing can be ruled out in this crazy modern wrestling market.

Randy was almost certainly just having a little fun with the aforementioned Instagram post. Regardless, his signing would be a huge coup for the nascent promotion, and showing up on Dynamite would be a genuine Lex Luger/Nitro moment. If it ever happens, it'll probably send the internet into a meltdown, though it'd probably be wise not to bet the house on it.
