Backstage Reaction To CM Punk's WWE Relationship Ending

WWE are still unhappy with the out of contract superstar.

The feeling backstage at Raw this week was that relations between WWE and CM Punk are probably worse than they ever have been. It wasn't the case that WWE mellowed by featuring Punk's special on the WWE Network. The return of AJ Lee also did nothing to improve his tarnished status within the company. It was interesting that WWE decided to air the Network documentary on the same day that Punk's contract expired, but it might just have been a coincidence, they might just have wanted a draw for the Network this week. Another theory is that WWE aired the Punk feature in order to ease any potential backlash over his removal from the roster. What was notable on Raw is that the announcers never mentioned CM Punk's name, despite imploring viewers to watch his documentary. That's a pretty good sign that the likes of Triple H and Vince McMahon are still seething at Punk. Vince directs commentary, so it was his call not to formally mention Punk. Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio has commented on the lunacy of this, the almost petty level that Punk / WWE relations have stooped to. Alongside this report on management still having heat with Punk, it sounds like he isn't too enamoured with them either. Upon his superstar profile being removed from wwe.com's roster, Punk tweeted to his fans "Nope, thank YOU.Thanks for all the help and support through the years. Health and happiness above all. Don't ever take any s**t from anybody."
