Backstage Update On Rey Mysterio's WWE Return

When will we see the former United States Champion back on TV?

The past few months haven't been kind to Rey Mysterio. Squashed by Samoa Joe in their United States Title match at WrestleMania 35, he rebounded by taking the strap at Money In The Bank... only for injury to rob him of his reign.

Sidelined by an injury suffered at MITB, Mysterio was forced to relinquish the belt back to Joe. That segment saw Rey put to sleep with a Coquina Clutch, and while this could've been used to continue the US Title feud upon Mysterio's return, Joe has since dropped the strap to Ricochet.

In more positive news, it looks like the 44-year-old could be set to return to television imminently. PW Insider are reporting that WWE hope to have the legend back for Raw on 8 July: IE, the Extreme Rules go-home episode.

This is encouraging news for Rey. He has been a real WWE standout since returning last year, with his Andrade feud a particular highlight. 30 years into his career he may be, but he can definitely still go, and it'll be good to see him back on WWE television.

Could a revived feud with Samoa Joe await? We'll see.
