With ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin having been on WWE television more in the past few months than he has in years, many fans are wondering whether this could lead to one more match for the Texas Rattlesnake – potentially at WWE Crown Jewel later this month.

Austin himself has spoken up on his Stone Cold Podcast to admit that physically he could return to the ring for a one-off, although the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has moved to quash the rumours of any such one-off return taking place at October 31st’s Crown Jewel event.

Currently, Austin is not booked for WWE Crown Jewel, and that’s not expected to change.

Since his final match at 2003’s WrestleMania XIX, Stone Cold has had several offers to make an in-ring return to WWE – with many believing that we’d at one point get a Steve Austin vs. CM Punk back when the Second City Saint was the hottest star in the business.

Whether it was a case of the money on offer not being up to what Austin wanted, or the Hall of Famer having concerns about the various neck and spinal issues that ultimately led to his in-ring retirement, the Bionic Redneck has yet to compete in a match since that ’03 bout against The Rock.

What’s different now, of course, is that the paydays being offered by WWE’s trips to Saudi Arabia are absolutely huge. For example, Goldberg is believed to have earned $2 million for his match against The Undertaker at WWE Super ShowDown earlier this year.

Up next for ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is an appearance on SmackDown Live’s FOX premiere tonight. Down the road, though? Well, maybe there’s still a glimmer of hope of seeing one of the all-time greats having one more match.
