On his Saturday evening radio show, "Heated Conversations," WWE Hall of Famer Booker T announced his intentions to run for mayor of his hometown of Houston in 2020.

The announcement came during an interview with Rhyno, who recently mounted an unsuccessful bid as a Republican for a seat in Michigan's House of Representatives. Rhyno endorsed Booker for the position, saying that in his estimation, life as a pro wrestler prepares you for politics because it gives you the ability to gauge what people want. Rhyno received 9,999 votes compared to Democratic challenger Abdullah Hammoud's 18,097.

After a stint in WCW that saw Booker T win five World Heavyweight Championships, the star jumped to WWE when the former company was bought out. After the invasion storyline, Booker became a popular babyface, winning Raw's World Tag Team Titles with Goldust, then later capturing the Intercontinental Title. Upon jumping to Smackdown in 2004, Booker found his greatest success, winning the United States Championship three times, the King of the Ring tournament, and the World Heavyweight Championship.
