Brock Lesnar Working WWE House Show With Shock Opponent

An unlikely match for Lesnar's first house show in years.

Brock Lesnar is set to work the July 4th WWE House Show in Tokyo, Japan. This will be Lesnar's first appearance on a none televised show in over a decade. Surprisingly, the opponent he is booked against is Kofi Kingston. The news was confirmed after WWE's Japan office released the information, which was then reported by f4wonline. It is a surprising turn of events, particularly as Lesnar will be missing the Independence Day celebrations in the US. His appearance at the Sumo Hall in Tokyo will be his first house show since early 2004. He hates travelling, especially long overseas trips. That's why he quit the WWE in the first instance. But he's such an important star for the WWE that he really is invaluable on an overseas trip like this one. Particularly in the Japanese market, Lesnar has always been a bankable star. No doubt he's getting paid handsomely to work this extra date. This also tells us that Lesnar's new WWE deal is indeed different to his old one. WWE obviously managed to negotiate in some extra dates for shows like this, which will be hugely important for extracting value out of Lesnar and maximising earnings in specific markets. The big shock is that he'll be working with Kofi Kingston. Sure, it could be fun, with Kofi flying about the ring on multiple suplexes, but it is hardly the headlining match that anyone would have expected.
