Chael Sonnen Joins Jeff Jarrett's Global Force Wrestling

Will work the announcer's table... for now.

GFW, otherwise known as Global Force Wrestling, has been in the works for a while. Founded by Jeff Jarrett, who also launched TNA back in the day, and who famously held titles in both the WWE and WCW, GFW was big news when first announced - but then, next to nothing happened. Was it the wrestling equivalent of vaporware? When would the fledgling promotion get off the ground? Well, a lot of answers came today, as the promotion held a press conference at 1PM which included a roster reveal and info on who else would be involved with the promotion, including none other than former three-time UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen, who has long been linked to a possible pro wrestling career, and was once rumoured to have been linked to the WWE. Sonnen has been working as an analyst for ESPN of late, and has provided commentary for mixed martial arts events in the past. Recognized as one of the best talkers in the MMA world, his style is perfectly suited to pro wrestling. News of Sonnen's involvement broke just prior to the start of the press conference, and the belief is there will be no transition to in-ring action initially, but as with just about anything in pro wrestling, anything is possible. Other names announced as working for the promotion at today's press conference include Doc Gallows (Luke Gallows), Karl Anderson, Davey Boy Smith Jr, and Justin Gabriel.
