Chris Jericho Talks His WWE Return

How it came about and how long he thinks he'll be staying...

WWE.comWWE.comThis past Monday saw Chris Jericho make a surprise return to WWE. The news was out on the internet about two hours before the show, but for the most part it was kept a secret. During his Talk Is Jericho podcast released on Wednesday, he spoke about how his return was set up. Jericho talked about how he always keeps in touch with WWE via text and email about a possible return. He has mentioned that on his radio show for months because he's obviously a guy that is on great terms with them. He mentioned that a WrestleMania 30 return didn't work. His ideas involved Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt, but obviously WWE went in other directions with both guys by having Bryan wrestle HHH, then Orton/Batista and Wyatt taking on Cena. He revealed that even though the WrestleMania 30 return didn't work out, he still kept in touch with WWE via texts/emails. Wyatt's name was brought up when WCW contacted him, which Jericho was really excited about. That makes sense since he mentioned Wyatt when they talked about WM30, so it was smart of WWE to call him back. In some of his other podcasts, Jericho talked about how much he enjoyed working with Wyatt on NXT last year. Jericho received a phone call from WWE on Friday. His deal was completed when he talked to Triple H and they set up a game plan. They likely didn't have any plans for Wyatt following Money in the Bank, so calling Jericho was the right move on WWE's part. To hide his return, WWE flew him into Boston on Monday morning instead of Hartford where Raw was. It's about a 90 minute drive from Boston to Hartford. He got to the arena around 5:30pm. After noticing fans there, he waited until they left before he pulled into the arena. Once he got the arena, he ended up hanging out in the crew bus for about four hours. After meeting up with Dean Malenko (a former Jericho rival in WCW that is an agent in WWE), they went over what he was going to do and Vince McMahon signed off on it. He mentioned that he met up with The Wyatt Family, The Miz and Michael Hayes backstage. Then he headed to the Gorilla position where he received warm greetings from Vince McMahon Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Then it was his cue to return. It was great to hear Jericho talk about what went on with his return. It showed that his relationship with WWE is really strong and that they were all smart enough to keep it a secret. It's also nice to hear him be so candid on his podcast because then we can get the story from his own mouth instead of having to rely on others. Jericho added that he's going to work an almost full time schedule and will be going on upcoming overseas tours as well a working live events. He does have some music obligations with his band Fozzy, but it's nice to know that he'll be working live events instead of just television shows. With Jericho expected to stick around for a few months at least, WWE has one of their best veterans back in the mix at a time when he can work with a younger guy like Wyatt and help him become an even bigger star. Seeing Jericho back in WWE is a welcome sight that all WWE fans should be happy about.
