CM Punk Latest - No WWE Talks Over Return

The ongoing saga involving CM Punk's WWE future remains a hot topic for wrestling fans. We all want to know if the man that calls himself "The Best in the World" is going to return to WWE and if he does, when will that be? Last week there were erroneous reports that he was going to return on Raw in Chicago. After WWE played his music to start Raw (only for Paul Heyman to walk out), fans thought maybe that was a sign that Punk would return soon. As it turns out, that doesn't appear to be the case. In a report from PWInsider, it was mentioned that there have been hardly any real discussions between CM Punk and WWE officials. It was made clear on Monday that Punk was not coming to RAW and it was made clear that as far as he's concerned, he's done with pro wrestling. Punk being done with pro wrestling right now doesn't necessarily mean he's done forever. Nobody really knows what it means except him. He's obviously sick of things enough that he's willing to walk away from a job that pays him millions of dollars and has no qualms about it either. There are likely aspects of the business that he misses like the reaction of the fans or putting on a great match, but he's made it clear many times in the past that he's never been a fan of the political games that are a part of the wrestling business. Another PWInsider report also notes that WWE has some merchandising issues regarding Punk that they will have to deal with going forward. Punk is a part of several upcoming projects that WWE plans to release soon including the Flintstones movie and a Camp WWE online cartoon that's planned. It's too late in the process to remove him from those, so it's hard to know what WWE will do in that situation. The best thing we can do as fans of CM Punk is to not get our hopes up. He's not in WWE right now. His contract is up in July and at that point we don't know what he might do at that point. There will likely be rumors that are out there all the time, but until we see him in a WWE ring again nothing is for sure. Wrestling fans will always think somebody will come back and it almost always happens. In Punk's case, we don't really know if he wants to come back and even if he did, would WWE want him back? It might seem like they would because he was a top guy, but if they have lost interest it's certainly understandable.
