CM Punk Moves To Milwaukee As UFC Training Intensifies

The Second City Saint leaves his Chicago home to be closer to fight team.

It looks as if CM Punk's training for his MMA debut in the UFC is intensifying. On Wednesday night's edition of UFC Tonight, host Ariel Helwani announced that Punk is on the move - moving to Milwaukee, that is, to be closer to his fight team at Rufousport. Punk has always been a proud denizen of Chicago, and is a big Blackhawks fan who was very vocal and supportive during the team's recent Stanley Cup championship. However, thus far is his MMA career, he has been making the commute (roughly 90 minutes or so) from Chicago to Milwaukee to train. That, of course, takes several hours out of his day - hours he could be training, or even just recuperating, in. Being stuck in a car in traffic? Not an optimal use of time, which is no doubt what led to this decision. According to the report, Punk will still maintain a home in Chicago. There's also no word on if A.J. Lee will accompany Punk, or if this will be a sort of weekdays on, weekends off situation where he heads home at the end of each week. Additionally, it appears Punk is going further in training than ever before, having taken part in a five round sparring session recently. As all non-title/non-headlining UFC fights are three rounds, it looks as if Punk is looking to ensure his cardio in the octagon is up to snuff. There's no word on who the sparring session was against, but Rufousport is home to a large cache of fighters including ONE FC welterweight champion Ben Askren, and former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis. Punk's debut is looking more and more likely to come in early 2016.
