How did the 'Voice Of The Voiceless' help New Day's finest?

Big E revealed during an interview with the 'My Mom's Basement' podcast that CM Punk saved his WWE career years ago.

The New Day man, who has since gone on to become one of the most popular acts in the entire company, said Punk spoke up on his behalf to WWE management back in 2013; for reference, that was pre-New Day and right about the time E became Intercontinental Champion.

E was struggling to establish himself on the main roster after moving up from NXT, but Punk knew he had skills and warned higher-ups not to sleep on them. That's something former Big E. Langston appreciated, especially because his previous gimmicks (like his five count) had been abolished by writers on Raw and SmackDown.

Punk said he'd like to work some matches with E, some of which were televised, and thought he should get a serious singles push. His voice carried weight with the office and saved Big E from being cut someday.

Even so, he didn't really come into his own until hooking up with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods as New Day.
