CM Punk Says "MMA Is Pro Wrestling"

Says he's ready to fight, but knows the outcome if he did so right away.

While MMA and pro wrestling have been frequently compared in the wake of the crossover from one to the other by CM Punk, it's a little unexpected to hear the man himself do it. And even more so to hear him say that MMA is pro wrestling, in essence. Speaking to WISports in Wisconsin, where Punk is currently training, the former WWE champion and current Roufusport fighter said that;
I think MMA is pro wrestling. If you go back to the early 1900's and the whole genesis of professional wrestling, and then you go back to the early beginnings of MMA, it was all pro wrestlers. The characters, the action, the media, the mouths. There's a reason people are interested in this, whether it's good or it's bad, whether they love me or they hate me.
While that may be true as far as how fans approach the sport, the action between the two is very different. On that note, Punk says that he's ready to fight "tomorrow" but that the outcome would be obvious.
My attitude is I'd fight tomorrow, but I'd pretty much know the outcome. I'm on an accelerated path. This is college and I'm cramming four years of college into one year.
In short, CM Punk still has a lot of learning to do when it comes to MMA, but the good news is, he's aware of it, and isn't ready to jump the gun. Punk also suggested that his octagon debut could come as late as December, setting it much further back than original estimates that had him fighting in summer. Ultimately, he said, it would be up to the recommendation of his coaches.
