CM Punk Video Shows His Growing MMA Skills

CM Punk in the UFC?

CM Punk has featured in a MMA video that demonstrates his increasing fight skills. The YouTube video shows Punk looking well versed in MMA discipline as he rolls around the mats with Rener Gracie and Ryron Gracie. The Gracie Jiu Jitsu camp is famous for its training of fight styles that have been very successful in the UFC. What's interesting about the video is that Punk introduces himself as CM Punk. So much for wanting to be Phil Brooks. The former WWE star looks astute in the video, he taps Rener out on a few occasions and demonstrates a smooth ground game. He also has excellent knowledge of the sport and talks at length about the UFC fight between Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold from this past week. Could we see this MMA hobby evolve into a full blown career for Punk? He does joke about a fight on a Metamoris show. However, any actual MMA career is very unlikely. He's 36 years old and physically broken down from years of wrestling in WWE. What he does have going for him is a box office profile. The UFC is a business that needs stars to sell shows. The company has lacked exciting main event characters in 2014. That leaves some remote possibility that UFC President Dana White might be interested in signing a star name like Punk. White has promoted one-off gimmick fighters in the past, including James Toney and Kimbo Slice. Could the UFC take a punt on CM Punk?
