Ahead of the first SmackDown episode under the watch of Executive Director Eric Bischoff, the WWE has moved to announce a tag team bout for tonight’s blue brand offering.

Emanating from San Antonio, Texas’ AT&T Center, SmackDown will see Daniel Bryan going up against The New Day’s Big E; a move that will continue to push the burgeoning feud between The New Day and the current SmackDown Tag Team Champions D-Bry and Rowan.

The official WWE announcement on the match reads:

“With WWE Champion Kofi Kingston preparing for the challenge of Samoa Joe, fellow New Day members Big E & Xavier Woods had quite the week for themselves, pinning SmackDown Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan in an Eight-Man Elimination Tag Team Match on Raw, then defeating Bryan & Rowan in tag team action last Tuesday on SmackDown LIVE.

Have The New Day re-established themselves as a threat to the SmackDown Tag Team Titles?”

The answer to that question, of course, is, to quote the old Daniel Bryan, “Yes!” as Bryan and Rowan are expected to defend their titles against Woods and E at the upcoming Extreme Rules PPV on July 14th.

With the fresh feel and energy to last night’s Raw under Paul Heyman’s watch, it’s now over to Eric Bischoff to see what he can bring to the SmackDown table tonight.
