Drew McIntyre Breaks Rope At WWE House Show (Pictures)

Apparently, it was a bit ropey.

Things took a dramatic - and potentially dangerous - turn at a WWE house in Anaheim, CA last night, when the top ring rope spectacularly snapped during a contest involving Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns opposite Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre.

About five minutes into the bout, Rollins whipped the McIntyre towards the ropes in a move performed literally thousands of times every week, only to see it violently snap, causing the huge Scot to tumble outside. The heart-stopping moment raised an audible gasp from an audience fearing for the Ayrshire Assassin's safety as he plummeted out the ring. Thankfully, the apron broke his fall, and he was soon back on his feet to finish the match.

After the tie - won in peculiar circumstances by Rollins and Reigns in a ring shorn of one-third of its perimeter - The Kingslayer entertained the crowd by going rodeo with the recalcitrant rope, swinging it above his head.

It's far from the first time a WWE show has suffered an equipment malfunction. Most famously, The Rockers' tag team title triumph over the Hart Foundation at a 1990 house show was reversed when a faulty rope made the footage un-airable. It's a credit to the professionalism of WWE's performers that they are able to carry on in such circumstances. Top work, lads.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
