Edge To Wrestle One Last WWE Match After New Deal?
'The Rated R Superstar' could be preparing for a sensational WWE return.
Adam 'Edge' Copeland returned to WWE at SummerSlam 2019 on 11 August, blasting that ne'er-do-well Elias with a shocking Spear on the Kickoff Show.
It was the first time the Hall-of-Famer had engaged in physical wrestling action since retiring in 2011. Now, with Edge reportedly signing a bumper new WWE contract, there's talk of one last match for the legend.
Dave Meltzer writes in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Copeland secured a bumper new WWE deal by using AEW as leverage in negotiations. He ended up talking to both sides, so WWE gave him a big bump in order to stick around with the company.
Nothing is confirmed regarding him potentially wrestling again, though Meltzer notes that the idea of another match has "definitely been talked about privately." There are, however, major concerns surrounding the Canadian's ability to get clearance, with WWE creative under the impression that this may never happen.
Edge turns 46 years old later this month. His retirement can as a result of cervical spinal stenosis, with doctors advising him that he risked neck-down paralysis if he kept competing. Thus, he'd likely be handled with kid gloves in the event of a comeback.
