Ex-WWE Writer Reveals Vince McMahon's Brother Storyline Was Nixed

WWE almost added ANOTHER McMahon to their programming in 2007.

WWE fans are accustomed to the McMahon family dominating weekly television. Whether Vince, Stephanie, Shane, or occasionally Linda, there's usually at least one around at any given time, but there's one key relative we've never been introduced to: Roderick.

Most fans likely haven't even heard of Vince's real-life brother, but he almost became part of one of WWE's biggest storylines in 2007, as per Court Bauer. Speaking on The World According To Wrestling podcast, the former WWE writer claims that Roderick was set to come in as part of Vince's death angle that summer, with his first appearance coming during his brother's planned on-screen funeral.

The Chairman was famously "killed off" when his limousine exploded during a June 2007 episode of Raw. As per Bauer, Roderick would've been portrayed as the antithesis of Vince's intense, brash persona, though there's no word on where the angle would've gone in the long run.

WWE were forced to cancel the storyline following the Chris Benoit tragedy, which happened two weeks after the initial segment. Vince returned to TV in August, and Roderick's plans were ditched, which is probably for the best, given the criticism the McMahons have received for hogging the spotlight over the years.
