Former WWE Diva Serena Deeb Retiring From Wrestling

The only female SES member has chosen to leave the wrestling business.

Former WWE diva and Straight Edge Society member Serena Deeb is retiring from the wrestling business at the age of 29 following her final match for REINA promotion at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan on Friday. She posted the following message on Facebook to explain her decision:
Tomorrow I wrestle at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. This will be my final match. I have opted to peacefully and humbly close my career, with the deep honor & respect that I was brought up with. I infinitely thank OVW for raising me in such a way in this business- it is a lost art. I am so grateful to every person who I have formed memories with over the past 10 years. So many of you are my family. I fell in love with pro wrestling when I was very young. I experienced many incredible moments, as well as countless heartbreaks. I got to have my Wrestlemania moment in front of 72,000 people. I have been blessed with 7 trips to Japan & I have chosen to close this chapter of my life in this beautiful country.
There is no remorse in this decision. I have simply grown. I love you all. Thank you. She was most known for her WWE career as part of CM Punk's Straight Edge Society stable along with Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury. Punk famously shaved her head while she promised she wouldn't drink or do drugs, which is what the SES was all about. It was a very memorable moment on Smackdown seeing a woman willingly having her head shaved like that, but also showed how she really wanted to make it in the wrestling business.
Unfortunately for her, she was released from her WWE deal later in 2010 because management was mad that she wasn't "living the gimmick" and apparently was drinking on the road too much. Even though she's a very good wrestler that started wrestling ten years ago, she wasn't given a chance to show it because of her release after only eight months on the main roster. Serena, who is 29 years old, took part in a storyline for TNA Wrestling during their June tapings that will air later this month, so that will be the last time she wrestles on television. She is currently working as a yoga instructor.
