GFW Adds Mickie James And Announces Women's Title Tournament

Former WWE & TNA Champion joins GFW for July 24 tapings.

Global Force Wrestling announced that former WWE Women's & Divas Champion Mickie James is going to be wrestling at their July 24 TV tapings in Las Vegas. It was also announced that there will be a GFW Women's Title tournament that will take place with James as one of the participants. Some of the other women wrestlers currently listed as appearing for GFW events are Lei'D Tapa, Thea Trinidad, Santana Garrett, Cherry Bomb, Amber Gallows and Melanie Cruise. James is clearly the biggest name among the women on the roster, so it would make sense to have her win the GFW Women's Title. It was announced last week that James' fiance Nick Aldis (Magnus) would also be appearing at the July 24 tapings and he'll be wrestling at live events as well. James has appeared on TNA in recent months on a per appearance deal while Aldis got out of his TNA deal. Now that GFW is expected to be working with TNA, both of them could be back on Impact this year as well.
James spoke about wanting to face Paige and Charlotte in WWE recently although it's not known if WWE has interest in bringing her back. GFW performers work there on per appearance deals, so nobody is officially under contract to them meaning that anybody could leave GFW if the opportunity presented itself. GFW has still not announced a TV deal program for their shows, so even though they are taping several hours of TV on July 24 it's not known when or where it will air. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VMd5a9oCSE
