SummerSlam's 'Golden Age' never came, but the angle isn't over.

WWE spent much of July and August building a new storyline in which former Intercontinental Champion Goldust teased the start of a new 'Golden Age' within the company.

Details were scarce, but it seemed as though Goldust was set to unveil a new protégé at SummerSlam. The pay-per-view passed without him delivering on his promise, however, and 'The Golden One' hasn't appeared in a backstage segment since 7 August, leading many fans to believe that the storyline has been scrapped.

A reasonable assumption, but it may be inaccurate. Goldust took to Twitter earlier this week, and responded directly to a fan saying they were still waiting on the reveal:-

Another tweet posted in the small hours of Tuesday morning bred further speculation that the storyline may still be on, though it's hard to take Goldust's ambiguous statements as concrete evidence.

'The Golden One' last wrestled on 28 August, when he participated in an Intercontinental Title contendership Battle Royal. He has been used sparingly since concluding his feud with former partner R-Truth in July, but the 'Golden Age' vignettes had kept him active on television until last month.
