Halftime Heat To Return For This Year's Super Bowl
Not a bad alternative to Maroon 5!
Following a 20 year hiatus, WWE have announced the return of Halftime Heat for Super Bowl Sunday.
Shawn Michaels made the announcement on the Royal Rumble Kickoff show last night, where he revealed that following the conclusion to NXT TakeOver: Phoenix (which saw a mass brawl which spilled backstage), there will be a six man tag match taking place during the Super Bowl halftime show.
At the midway point of the match between the Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots on Sunday, WWE will stream across their various platforms a contest pitting NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, newly-crowned NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano, and Adam Cole, against the team of Aleister Black, Velveteen Dream & Ricochet.
HBK will be joining the announce team for the match, which is only the second Halftime Heat ever. The previous match was the infamous empty-arena match between Mankind and The Rock, which saw Mankind defeat The People's Champion to win his second WWE Championship.
Presented as an alternative to the halftime show being performed by Maroon 5, this is a highly anticipated match featuring some of the biggest stars in NXT right now.
