Hulk Hogan Returns To WWE Raw August 11

The WWE legend is back, but what will his role be?

It was announced on Thursday that WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan will be returning to Monday Night Raw on August 11th. The news was posted on the website for the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon where Raw will take place that night. It also revealed what his role will be by saying that Hogan "is set to host what guarantees to be one hot show leading up to the SummerSlam PPV." Bringing Hogan back to host Raw one week before SummerSlam is a smart idea for WWE because Hogan is tremendous at getting fans excited for a show. It's what he has always been great at even when he was a top guy in WWE. As we have reported numerous times already, the SummerSlam main event is expected to be John Cena defending the WWE Title against Brock Lesnar. Since Lesnar is coming into the match as strong as ever due to his win over the Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 he's going to receive a lot of attention on that show. it will be interesting to see if Lesnar interacts with Hogan in any way. Don't expect Hulk to take any bumps, but Lesnar and his manager Paul Heyman would get huge heel heat if they came out while Hogan was in the ring doing a promo. When Hogan returned to WWE earlier this year he was not put in a role where he would appear on TV regularly. His deal is for WWE to utilize him whenever they need him like last week in Japan with the signing of KENTA. He's in a position where he's a guest star every once in a while just like Bret Hart on Raw two weeks ago. Ric Flair was on Raw this week, but he's expected back in a more regular role soon. It's just a matter of finding something for him to do. There's also a guest star (or host) next week on Raw with rapper Flo Rida making an appearance in Miami. He's been on WWE TV a few times the last couple of years, most notably at WrestleMania 28. The guest host concept doesn't look like it's returning after it became a regular thing in 2009-10, but it seems like WWE is going to bring in different people when they feel like it will help the show. In other Hogan news, August 11 is also his 61st birthday so it's smart for WWE to put him on the show and have some kind of bash to celebrate the legend. You know the rule in wrestling: if there's a cake around it's going into somebody's face. It always happens without fail.
