Is Rob Van Dam Finished With WWE For Good?

RVD has left the WWE, and he may not be returning anytime soon.

It was reported last week that Rob Van Dam was leaving the WWE, following the Smackdown taping on August 26th. Many believed Van Dam€™s departure to simply be the beginning of an extended break from the company, similar to the one he took last year. The high-flying superstar had returned to WWE television in July of 2013, following a lengthy run with TNA Wrestling. Since his returned, Van Dam has languished in the mid-card, often being used to elevated younger talent. He did, however, receive one World Heavyweight Championship opportunity against Alberto Del Rio at last year€™s SummerSlam event, but was unsuccessful in his quest. Rob€™s use as a sort-of enhancement talent led to some fans dubbing him €œJob€ Van Dam. It€™s a clever moniker, and despite the inherent disrespect, was an apt description for the Whole Damn Show€™s most recent tenure with the WWE. With news of the split between Van Dam and WWE, many were hopeful that RVD would return to the company in the coming months, as he€™s done so before. However, those hopes may have been dashed, as Van Dam has commented on his current status with the company via Twitter.
A fan asked Rob if he was done with WWE €œfor good.€ Van Dam responded with a somewhat cryptic, €œFor better or for worse.€ This would seem to indicate that there are no plans for RVD to return to WWE television, at least anytime in the near future. Furthermore, the phrasing of Rob€™s response may indicate that the rift is not amicable. Perhaps, RVD is willing to work with WWE moving forward, but the company is uninterested. For what particular reason is not especially clear. It€™s possible the company felt he wasn€™t enough of a draw this last time around, or they may still not have any definitive plans for the superstar. Regardless, it seems that Rob Van Dam is not only taking time off from WWE, but may not be returning at all. Of course, in wrestling, they always say, €œnever say never.€ However, RVD€™s comment seems to suggest that he won€™t be returning to the company at any point in near future. Will Rob Van Dam be back in WWE one day or is this the permanent end to their relationship? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
