Is THIS Where Roman Reigns Will Finally Lose His WWE Titles?
Backstage update on WWE's plans for Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
WWE's current plans have Roman Reigns' next Undisputed WWE Universal Championship defence set for Money In The Bank 2022 on 2 July.
This is according to Dave Meltzer, who writes in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that while whoever will challenge Reigns is currently unclear, it won't be Drew McIntyre. Instead, WWE plans on saving that match for Clash At The Castle (3 September).
Reigns has been feuding with Drew in recent months, suggesting that the duo were set for an imminent showdown. Instead, WWE appears to be holding the match for its first major United Kingdom stadium show since SummerSlam 1992.
There is no indication of WWE's preferred outcome yet, but it's possible that the company see Cardiff, Wales as an appropriate place to crown McIntyre as its top champion.
As always, today's plan might not be 2 July or 3 September's plan. Things could change between now and then, though McIntyre is currently pencilled in for Clash.
That Reigns will miss WWE's next premium live event, Hell In A Cell 2022, has already been established. WWE's top star is set to commence a more relaxed working schedule with the market leading promotion imminently, having recently signed a new deal with the company befitting his stature and tenure. He is still expected to work this year's major stadium shows.
