WWE officially released Jack Swagger on Monday.

The company broke the story on their website:

WWE has come to terms on the release of Jack Swagger as of today, March 13, 2017. WWE wishes Swagger the best in all his future endeavors.

Swagger made headlines earlier this month when he revealed to Chael Sonnen's podcast that he had asked for his release. Cleary he thought he would immediately be free to pursue other options, finding himself booked on a WAW show in the UK. However, the company didn't let him go immediately, forcing him to pull out of that date and perhaps as a warning for other wrestlers to not take things public before they can be settled behind-the-scenes.

The former ECW and World Heavyweight Champion hadn't done much of note in WWE over the past few years, and once his jump to SmackDown failed to gain him any screen time, it seems he was destined to ride out the rest of his days in the company without much to do.

At 34-years-old, there's still plenty of time for him to turn things around. Here's to hoping he finds the success he's been looking for.

What price on him re-teaming up with Zeb Colter (Dutch Mantell) in TNA?

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
