According to details from TMZ, the accident occurred the evening of March 20th at approximately 9:30 PM. Jan, who reportedly wasn't wearing a helmet at the time, was struck from behind by a vehicle while on her way to the gym, throwing her from the scooter. Both her Vespa and the automobile that hit her caught fire. Jan was rushed to the hospital where she immediately underwent surgery.

JR called her condition "touch and go" and the iconic Hall of Famer continued to provide updates via Twitter and his blog while thanking everyone for their support. In the final update before the news of her passing, he stated:

“I will fully admit that there has been no experience in my life that could have prepared me for this life changing week. To see one’s life partner and love of one’s life being kept alive via life support equipment is tragically heartbreaking.”

Unfortunately, just a few hours later JR informed the public that his cherished "little angel" had passed away. The heartbreaking news, which he tweeted out at 8:40 PM on March 22nd, has been met with a deluge of sympathy from those in and outside the wrestling community.

Jan, who worked as a flight attendant for 13 years, was introduced to her future husband by Ric Flair while on a plane traveling with WWE. The pair tied the knot in 1993 and had spent over 23 wonderful years together, in which Jan not only played a huge role in Jim's personal life but his professional one as well, even helping him develop the taste of his famous barbecue sauce. Those who knew her thought highly of her as a wonderful lady who treated everyone with respect and kindness.
