John Cena Confirmed As Host Of Fox Reality Show "American Grit"

The show will debut on Fox television in 2016.

John Cena has been announced as the new host of the Fox television reality competition series "American Grit". The show will debut in 2016. Cena has been off WWE television since the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event on October 25 when he lost the United States Title to Alberto Del Rio. He reportedly asked for and was granted time off so that he could film this show. American Grit is a military-themed competition series that will run for ten episodes. According to the press release, "16 of the country€™s toughest men and women will be split into four teams as they work together to face a variety of military-grade and survival-themed challenges." No specific date was announced for the debut of the show. There will be mentors on the show called "The Cadre" that include include Act of Valor actor and Navy SEAL trainer Rorke Denver, 101st Airborne Division Purple Heart recipient Noah Galloway, U.S. Marines Gunnery Sergeant Tawanda €œTee€ Hanible and the U.S. Army€™s first African American sniper, Nick €œThe Reaper€ Irving. Each team€™s mentors will represent a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. Cena commented on his role: "The U.S Military is the epitome of resolve and dedication, which is why I am so excited to be a part of American Grit. This show will not only be a challenging and fierce competition, but it will give viewers a glimpse into the perseverance and training of the men and women of the Armed Forces.€ The competitors on the show will compete for up to a million dollars, with each episode culminating in €œThe Circus,€ which is a €œpunishing, endurance-based obstacle course designed to break the weakest competitors.€ Cena also sent out a tweet talking about how he's honored to be a part of the show. https://twitter.com/JohnCena/status/667069717195149312 He's expected to return to WWE television in December either at a live event on December 26 or at the TLC pay-per-view event on December 13.
